The WSJ Recognizes Sierra Club’s Natural Gas Campaign

When ‘fracking’ technology opened up cheap large-scale production of natural gas the Sierra Club initially saw this as a beneficial alternative to Dirty Coal. That view of shale gas as a transition to renewable fuels did not last long, as activists in the shale gas plays alerted Club leaders to the dangers of fracking. News of the Club’s opposition to fracking reached the OpEd page of the Wall Street Journal on May 29. As might be expected, comments from the WSJ readership were quick in coming.
