This one is always a lot of fun. We need people to table, collect petition signatures and get our message across to festival participants. You can pick any time period that suits you. There is music and other entertainment. This event is hosted by the Endangered Species Action Team and the Global Warming Action Team.

‘Save Our Transit’ March and Rally, June 8

A sustainable transit system is essential for region that is any truly livable for all. Unfortunately, the residents of Allegheny County may see forty-six of the current one-hundred and two PAT bus routes discontinued after Sept. 2. Please join this march and rally, assembling at 3:00 pm at Eleventh and Stanwix Street in downtown Pittsburgh, proceeding to the “T” station near the Highmark Building at Sixth and Liberty, and finishing for the rally at Gov. Tom Corbett’s office at Piatt place, 301 Fifth Ave. Organized by Pittsburghers for Public Transit and endorsed by Sierra Club Allegheny Group.

The Carnegie Library Extravaganza. Tabling event,  several shifts available. Pass out literature and discuss our goals with interested people. The “Extravaganza” takes place in front of the main Library in Oakland. There is entertainment, venders and a chance to buy deeply discounted books.

Sixth Annual “DRYerson Festival”, June 16

The Center for Coalfield Justice (CCJ) invites all to a festival that commemorates the seventh year of a dry lake in Ryerson Station SP. With fun, family, food, and music, the community is drawing attention to the need to restore a lake that was drained by underground long-wall mining.

We’ll have the wonderful band 2/3 Goat and free food in the beautiful state park. Come out and share stories on Duke Lake and show you how together we can fight to restore it to its former beauty.

Fracking Rally in Harrisburg, June19

Along with other groups, Cleran Water Action is calling on these companies to comply with new EPA air pollution regulations and provide annual test for drinking water sources: Chesapeake Energy, Range Resources, and Chief Oil & Gas.

A RALLY will be held in Harrisburg

Third and State Street

We will march to nearby offices of the three companies. Our state leaders have failed to protect citizens from shale gas drilling. It’s time to put pressure on the major gas drillers to demand a healthier future for us all., and end sending wastewater to our waterways. Sign up HERE.

Synchronous Fireflies! Allegheny NF Outing, June 22-24

Join folk from the Allegheny Defense Project to Observe and Document Synchronous Fireflies in the Allegheny National Forest.

To learn how valuable an asset the Allegheny National Forest is to our region, the Allegheny Defense Project invites the public to a two-day camping outing June 23-24 in the Salmon Creek watershed. Not only will this be an opportunity to enjoy a Spring outing and learn of forest issues, but of special interest will be the newly discovered presence of the synchronous firefly species Photinus Carolinus that produces a spectacular evening light show.
