Here are some ideas:
- Conserve water.
- Buy green products, such as cleaning products
- Help school board reduce diesel emissions by 90%- diesel particle fibers, closed crankshaft vents, or new buses.
- Unplug your charged phone or other electrical items when not in use.
- Carpool, take the bus, walk, or ride a bike. Buy a Prius, electric car, or a car with good miles per gallon.
- Don’t keep car on while just waiting.
- Recycle and reuse things. All plastic 1-5 in the city can be recycled, bottles, cans, paper, etc. (check your suburb’s requirements if not in city)
- Don’t waste food, napkins, paper, paper towels, etc.
- Promote green jobs
- Use compact fluorescent lightbulbs.
- Switch to solar or wind power.
- Keep your thermostat at a reasonable temperature– 68F in winter for heat and 78F in summer for air conditioning.
- Turn lights off when not in the room
- Keep track of legislation and do petitions for politicians.
- Have others contact politicians- phone calls
- Get postcards signed
- Go to press conferences
- Educate people about global warming
- If water heater is full, you will use less hot water.
- Wait until you have a full load of wash so that you won’t waste water
- Get a “green energy supplier”
- Go shopping once weekly
- Carpool
