A/V skills needed for creating a video conferencing setup

We are interested in creating a new form of conservation-related meeting using video conferencing. With such technology we could have live conversations with anyone anywhere, so long as they could get to a computer. We’re looking for someone who has the technical know-how to handle the setup on our end and possibly offer tech support to the person who will be giving the presentation. We need the following equipment and the software to hook it all together… most of which we already have:

* 2 webcams, one for our end and one we could send to the presenter
* 2 projectors, both for our end: one to project the presenter’s webcam and the other to project a Power Point presentation from the presenter
* 2 computers, both for our end, for the 2 projections

We’re especially looking for someone who has these skills but is also interested in the conservation/environmental end, that is, who the passion for the work. This could really be exciting! If you are able to help us with this setup please contact Don Gibbon at dongibbon at earthlink dot net or 412-362-8451.

Opportunities for Photographers

If you do quality photography, the Club could use your skills off and on during the year. Here’s a run down of what we’d like to see:

  1. Around the turn of the year, we put out a call for photographs in the area of “sustainable agriculture” in PA. We organize a major exhibit at the annual PASA conference around this theme.
  2. We need good outings photographs on the web site all year round. We can use them in support of Outings Reports or just in general in the archives.
  3. We publish two editions of the newsletter each year. Photographs always make the newsletter better. Submit them to Marla Ferrency, the editor, marla at ferrency dot com.
  4. Finally, we love member adventure programs. We often have two or three members share their travels around the world or even locally. We’ve had Tibet on foot and trail maintenance in Maine, and everything in between. This is your time to help others break loose and do something adventurous… like you have.

Talk to Donald L. Gibbon (dongibbon at earthlink dot net, 412-362-8451) about any of these opportunities.
