Venture Outdoors

We need people to table at Venture Outdoors. Your duties would be to pass out information, answer questions, help with the children with their activities and act as an ambassador for the Sierra Club. Activist Night Phonebanking.

Phonebanking for April 22 Town Hall Meeting at the Steel Workers building (Stanwix & Blvd of the Allies) 6-8pm; Speakers will include the head of Blue/Green Alliance, the head of Utility Workers Union (these are folks who may lose jobs when we shut down power plants); a Sierra Club person; and a Business person.  Purpose is to work out a win-win-win-win situation as we push to shift from a fossil fuel economy to a sustainable energy economy.   Our goal is to get 100 people to the meeting. Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Summer Reading Extravaganza

This is a big, annual event. We need people you can help explain our position to event participants and pass out free goodies to the kids. The 13th Annual Summer Reading Extravaganza takes place under the trees in front of the Main Library in Oakland. This a chance to “hang” with other Sierra Club members, pick up some good books at a very low price and, afterwards, have a beer and burger. The Extravaganza is Sunday, June 19th 12:00 to 5:00PM. Shifts are available.

“To The Arctic” at the Omimax

The Endangered Species Action Team is tabling at the Carnegie Science Center this coming Saturday, Oct. 6th
starting at 10 a.m. The occasion is the grand opening of the new Omimax movie called “To The Arctic” The Zoo
will also be tabling. We were invited to participate but we need a few more volunteers to help man the table
or else we have to cancel. If you have some time and would like to help please let me know.

Bryant St. Festival

Sunday June 5th from noon until 5:00 pm.

This one is always a lot of fun. We need people to table, collect petition signatures and get our message across to festival participants. You can pick any time period that suits you. There is music and other entertainment. This event is hosted by the Endangered Species Action Team and the Global Warming Action Team.
